	. *Membranoptera alata* (Hudson) Stackhouse (=Fucus alatus Hudson, =Delesseria alata (Hudson) Lamouroux) .
	Etymo: gr: membranous wings; lat: winged Etymo: gr: ali membranose; lat: alata
	. Ribbon-like thallus, 10 to 20cm high and 2 to 3mm wide, flattened, densely and irregularly branched, provided with a central or sub-central rib and of lateral membranous blades. The stipe is cylindrical, and its length and diameter grow with the age of the thallus. Red to dark red, the ribs and the stipe are darker than the blades. The gametophyte and the tetrasporophyte are similar. The sori, containing the tetrasporocysts, are arranged on both sides of the ribs, at the extremities of the ramuli. The spherical cystocarps too take place on the ribs near the extremities. Perennial Species, characteristic of exposed, shaded, infralittoral environments. Often epiphyte of Laminaria hyperborea. Talli nastriformi, alti tra 10 e 20cm e larghi tra 2 e 3mm, appiattiti, densamente ed irregolarmente ramificati, dotati di una nervatura centrale o subcentrale e di lame mambranacee laterali. Lo stipo è cilindrico, di lunghezza e diametro variabile in funzione dell'età della pianta. Colore tra rosso e rosso scuro, le nervature e lo stipo sono più scuri delle lame. Il gametofito e lo sporofito sono simili. I sori, contenenti le tetrasporocisti, trovano posto ai due lati delle nervature, all' estremità dei ramuli. Anche i cistocarpi sferici si trovano alle estremità delle nervature. Specie perennante, caratteristica di ambienti esposti ai moti ondosi, ombreggiati e infralittorali. Spesso epifita di Laminaria hyperborea. .
