	. Rough, very calcified crusts, very well adhering to the substrate. Violet gray tetrasporophites, covered by tubular conceptacles. Deep red gametophites; very sharp white margin. Perennial Species, very well diffused in shallow water environments. Tallo incrostante molto calcificato, assai bene aderente al substrato. I tetrasporofiti hanno colore grigio-viola, e sono coperti di concettacoli tubulari. I gametofiti sono di colore rosso scuro; margini molto netti, e di colore bianco. Specie perennante, molto diffusa in ambienti superficiali. .
	. Widely diffused in Mediterranean, Black Sea, North-Eastern Atlantic (from Norway to Portugal), North-Western Atlantic. Largamente diffuso in Mediterraneo, Mar Nero, Atlantico Nord-orientale (dalla Norvegia al Portogallo) Atlantico Nord-occidentale. .
